The work of Kristen Wentrcek and Andrew Zebulon focuses on the manipulation and transformation of industrial materials, through a language rooted in furniture design and architecture. They choose to work with materials such as fiberglass insulation, wire glass, medical cast tape and natural rubber because of their innate familiarity. This encourages the viewer to approach, interact with, and contemplate this work.
In order to accomplish this, Wentrcek and Zebulon must push the boundaries of what the material can handle and its intended function. In the process, they create new techniques for handling and refining materials that would typically be obscured or contained, resulting in wholly unique forms.
